Hours & Fees
Saint Edward State Park is open from 8 a.m. to dusk every day of the year. There is no entrance fee, but every car parked in the park needs a Discover Pass: $10 for one day or $45 for a year. If you walk or ride a bike in, you don't need a pass. Saint Edward is a day-use park, so there is no overnight camping.
Hours and Fees at a Glance
Park Hours
- Every day, all year: 8 a.m. to dusk.
- Day use only: the park has no campground, and the gates close at dusk.
- The Grotto rental: 10 a.m. to dusk, all year.
The hours don't change with the seasons the way they do at many Washington state parks. "Dusk" moves with the sunset, so a December visit ends far earlier than a July one. Plan a winter walk to the lake with that in mind: the trails down to the shore are steep in places, and the climb back up takes longer than the walk down.
Parking and the Discover Pass
Saint Edward has no gate fee. You pay for parking with a Discover Pass:
- One-day pass: $10
- Annual pass: $45, good for a year from purchase and transferable between two vehicles
The park has an automated pay station, which sells passes on the spot with no transaction fee. You can also buy online at discoverpass.wa.gov, by phone at (866) 320-9933, or from fishing and hunting license dealers. Display the pass in the windshield. Parking without one can bring a $99 ticket. The Discover Pass page covers discounts and exemptions.
When You Don't Need a Pass
- You arrive on foot or by bicycle.
- It is a Discover Pass free day. The last one in 2026 is Veterans Day, November 11.
- You hold a Washington State Parks discount pass, such as the disabled veteran pass.
Rental Fees
- The Grotto: $978 plus tax per day, for weddings and ceremonies of up to 120 people. See the Grotto.
- The Orchard picnic area and the Nun's Garden can also be reserved. Washington State Parks discount passes don't apply to day-use rentals, and every car still needs a Discover Pass.

Winter at Saint Edward
Washington State Parks' winter schedule lists the day-use area at Saint Edward as open through the off-season. It also notes that water is turned off from Labor Day through Memorial Day in some locations, so bring a full bottle in the colder months.
Fire Rules and Alerts
Fires are allowed only in designated areas. In September 2026 the agency posted a Level 2 burn ban that limits wood fires to fire pits in designated areas, with gas and propane still allowed. Check the alerts on the official park page before you bring charcoal.
